The Panorama Route packs an extraordinary concentration of scenery into a short drive along the edge of the Drakensberg escarpment. Viewpoints, waterfalls and rock formations arrive one after another as the Highveld drops thousands of feet to the Lowveld below.
It pairs naturally with a Kruger safari — many visitors drive the route on their way to or from the park.
Along the route
- 1
God's Window
A viewpoint where the escarpment falls away ~700 m toward the Lowveld.
- 2
Bourke's Luck Potholes
Cylindrical rock pools carved where the Treur and Blyde rivers meet.
- 3
Blyde River Canyon
The green-walled canyon and the Three Rondavels — the route's grand finale.
