Warm months (Sep–Apr); the park runs year-round

The Valley of the Waves is the water park at the heart of the Sun City resort, set between the Elands River and the Pilanesberg in North West province, about 140 km north-west of Johannesburg. Its centrepiece, the Roaring Lagoon, is a man-made lagoon with a sandy beach where machine-generated waves — reported at over a metre high — roll in roughly every 90 seconds.

Around the lagoon, the Temple of Courage is a 70-metre near-vertical slide dropping into a pool, joined by body slides such as the Tarantula and Scorpion, the Viper and Mamba tube rides, and a lazy-river circuit. It is one of the country's best-known family water attractions, wrapped in the resort's mock-jungle setting.
